Safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our residents and staff continues to be Mariposa’s most important priority. Elderly residents in care homes are amongst the most vulnerable transmission groups of the COVID-19 virus. Below you’ll find the steps we are taking to protect residents in our care and staff in our employment.
As a preventive step all non-urgent visits to our care homes are being prohibited. Non urgent includes anything where its cessation will not cause immediate risk of harm to the physical or mental wellbeing of our residents and or staff. Examples below;
Permitted to visit: emergency visits from healthcare professional to carry out assessments or treatment
Not permitted: visits from contractors unless they are required to carry out urgent health and safety work.
We are politely reminding friends and family that visiting residents is not permitted.
We are sure that friends and family will understand our reasoning – to protect both our elderly residents and our staff.
We have organised iPads to be available with in each of our homes with Skype facilities for those of you wishing to make video contact with your loved ones.
If you are feeling unwell and or showing symptoms of COVID-19, notably; a cough, a fever, or high-temperature, or are experiencing a shortness of breath, please do not visit a care home, and follow government protocol here. If you have no access to the internet dial 111 for medical advice.
As aforementioned, restrictions on non-essential visits doesn’t mean you have to lose contact with your loved ones. Feel free to phone a care home where you can still speak to via phone or see via video calls.
We will also be updating our Facebook page regularly to keep you updated with activities within our care homes.
Care staff and management have implemented a variety of extra steps to help protect our residents and employees. These include;
We continue to follow the advice and guidelines provided by Public Health England during the delay phase of the outbreak. As the situation changes we will constantly review and adapt our approach. We will update this page inline with the most current Government information and advice.
If you have any further questions about our response to COVID-19 or the situation at your local care home, feel free to call the care home manager directly. Contact details can be found here.
We thank you for your co-operation and for considering the health and wellbeing of our residents and staff at this time.
