September 2021: Cooling Down at Derwent

30/09/2021

Derwent Newsletter: September Edition

I think summer has officially ended, the nights and morning are getting darker and the days colder; which means lots of planning will be happening with the run up to Christmas. Staff are planning to do a sponsored bike ride to raise money for our resident’s fund, we have previously done this, and it has always been a huge success. A date is yet to be set, but I will be informing everyone as soon as we have one. 😊

We are revamping our bedrooms and lounges at Derwent, slowly but surely all bedrooms will be getting done, we are adding wallpaper and new bedspreads, so bedrooms feel more unique and individual, we hope you all like them. We have introduced a new sensory wall onto our middle floor which will continuingly be added too.

We are welcoming families back to Derwent, with the new government guidelines, residents can have 2 visitors at one time in their bedrooms for up to one hour. All visitors must show a negative lateral flow test on arrival and wear full PPE throughout the visit. I think we can all agree this is a big step in the right direction to getting a little normality back.

Tour of Britain

Residents and staff had a great time watching the Tour of Britain come through Hamsterley!

The whole village was out cheering them on and it had a very community feel.

Birthdays and Special Mentions

Happy 89th birthday to Lilian Copeland who celebrated on September 2nd. Lilian received lots of lovely cards and gifts.
