Mariposa Care volunteers with The People’s Kitchen

14/02/2024

We would like to say a huge thank you to The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle, who recently welcomed our Mariposa Care Operations Team for a day of volunteering.

First established in 1985, the People’s Kitchen is Newcastle is an award-winning volunteer group who provide essential services for their local community; supporting both homeless and vulnerable people to fight hunger and loneliness.

Our team spent the day helping over 300 people by supporting with food preparation and meal service, as well as sorting through clothing donations. It was a very fulfilling experience for the whole team, with the sense of community and compassion at The People’s Kitchen both undeniable and inspiring.

“We’re incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to assist at The People’s Kitchen. It’s such a wonderful place and meeting all the individuals involved was truly inspiring. At Mariposa Care, our core values are generosity, responsibility and sustainability – so we feel incredibly proud to have been able to embody these principles within our local community.

The People’s Kitchen really is a light in the dark for so many, so thank you for all you do – we hope to visit again soon.”
