Honouring Our Armed Forces: Supporting Veterans in Our Care

07/11/2025

As Remembrance Day approaches, we are taking this time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who served in the Armed Forces, and to pay tribute to the veterans, families, and wider military communities connected to our homes.

At Mariposa Care Group, we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to supporting veterans both within our care, guided by the Veteran Friendly Framework, and across our local communities as we come together to commemorate this important time.

Several of our homes are now officially recognised as Veteran Friendly Care Homes, this includes: Briardene, Holly Lodge, Riverwell Beck, Kingston Court, and The Old Prebendal House – with all remaining homes working towards this accreditation.

Holding the Veteran Friendly status means our teams have completed additional training as set out within the Veteran Friendly Framework and successfully demonstrated they can meet the unique needs of those who have served. This includes awareness of service-related experiences, understanding of available resources, and knowledge of how to support veterans and their families with dignity and respect.

Commemorating Remembrance Day Across Our Homes

Ahead of Remembrance Day, our residents have been creating handmade poppies to display around their homes – offering a quiet reminderof the courage and sacrifice of those lost in war.

Our homes will also join their local community with visits to the local cenotaph, watching their local Remembrance Parade and will also welcome local Army cadets to visit. These moments provide residents with the opportunity to remember, reflect and also feel connected to the wider community during this important time.

Mariposa Care Group Ltd has also proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our promise to support serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Together with our work towards full Veteran Friendly accreditation across the group, this reflects our ongoing commitment to creating care environments where veterans feel seen, supported and at home.

Mariposa Care is proud to join the wider community in remembering those who have served and were lost in war this Remembrance Day. Guided by the Veteran Friendly Framework, we remain committed to honouring the extraordinary contributions of ex-service men and women, while also continuing to build a strong network of care and support for all veterans across our homes.
