Enhancing Lives at Derwent with Exciting New Facilities

04/04/2024

We are delighted to announce the launch of an innovative new project at Derwent Care Home; introducing cutting-edge elderly and dementia facilities in the form of unique destinations within the home, such as the Apple Tree Cafe, The Orangery, and The Village Shop.

Scheduled for completion by the end of April 2024, these new additions are carefully designed to provide elderly residents including those living with dementia a safe and enjoyable outing experience within the home environment.

The introduction of these new spaces will transport Derwent Care Home residents to various local destinations mirroring real communities outside the home, offering a sense of freedom and familiarity while maintaining a secure environment.

From May 2024, visitors and residents entering Derwent Care Home on the ground floor can enjoy a visit to The Apple Tree Cafe, a bespoke café area complete with a coffee machine, kitchen facilities, and a selection of pastries and cakes. Through a glass door, guests can then relax in The Orangery, where the modernised conservatory provides views of the scenic Derwent Valley and offers a range of beverages from The Orangery bar.

On the lower ground floor, residents and visitors can enjoy browsing the Village Shop and can ‘purchase’ newspapers, fresh fruit, snacks, and toiletries in a setting reminiscent of a traditional English village with cobbled flooring.
