Elderly Care at Sovereign Lodge
As needs begin to change over time, having the right support in place can help older adults continue to live comfortably and with confidence. Elderly care is designed to provide that balance, offering assistance where needed while still encouraging independence and choice, helping to make everyday life feel more manageable and enjoyable.
At Sovereign Lodge, this approach is reflected in a setting where residents can enjoy both support and a true sense of home, combining professional care with a relaxed and welcoming environment. Taking the time to understand what elderly care can offer can help families feel more informed and reassured as they consider the options available to them.

What is Elderly Care?
Everyone’s needs are different, especially as they get older, however, elderly care can provide helpful day-to-day support with everyday tasks such as personal care, mobility and meals. Having a constant staff presence can be effective in offering reassurance and assistance when it is needed.
This type of support is designed to fit around existing routines, helping individuals to maintain a sense of normality while receiving assistance in a way that feels natural and unobtrusive. Whether it is help at certain times of day or simply the reassurance of knowing someone is nearby, elderly care allows residents to feel supported without losing their independence.
Elderly care differs from dementia or nursing care as it is not high dependency. Instead, it is focused on maintaining independence with light to moderate support. There is also an important emotional and social aspect to elderly care by providing companionship, opportunities to engage with others and reducing isolation. It helps to remove the pressure of managing everything alone and gives residents the opportunity to focus on enjoying their daily life.
Elderly Care at Sovereign Lodge
Sovereign Lodge offers a warm and family-oriented setting where residents, families and staff form strong ongoing relationships. We offer more than just care as our daily life includes regular social interaction, activities and shared spaces. There is also the Potting Shed Cafe that provides a welcoming space for conversation, relaxation and light activity. This is the ideal spot for residents to spend time informally n a way that they choose.
These shared spaces play an important role in creating a sense of community within the home, where residents can spend time together, build friendships and enjoy informal moments throughout the day. This helps to create an environment that feels sociable and engaging, while still allowing for quieter time when preferred.
Daily life at Sovereign Lodge includes activities that residents can take part in at their own pace and a healthy balance between social time and personal space. We are constantly developing the setting through an ongoing investment in our facilities and a commitment to improving the experience of our residents and raising standards locally.
Our approach is centred on creating a comfortable and well-supported lifestyle, where residents are free to make choices about how they spend their time. From relaxed mornings to more active afternoons, daily life can be shaped around individual preferences, ensuring that each resident can enjoy a routine that suits them.
We use the CQC framework to guide our care and have brought in Person Centred Software, Camascope and Pronett to improve accuracy and communication, freeing up staff to spend more time with residents.

Who is Elderly Care for?
Elderly care is suitable for those with a wide range of care needs, including anyone requiring support with daily routines. It offers the comfort of knowing there is help available when it is needed and allows residents to live in a supported community environment.
This makes it ideal for individuals who no longer want the responsibility of running a home or for anyone who simply enjoys being around others. Families can benefit from the peace of mind that support is always available whilst independent living is maintained.
It can also be a positive step for those who would like to simplify daily life, with fewer responsibilities and more time to focus on enjoying familiar routines and social opportunities. With the right support in place, residents are able to maintain their independence while benefiting from a consistent and reassuring environment.

Meet the Manager
Teresa Stephenson

Our Registered Home Manager, Teresa Stephenson, started her career as a kitchen assistant back in 2000. She was then asked by her manager to become a care assistant because of her kind nature. She quickly climbed the ladder becoming a senior care assistant a post she was in for 11 years. Realising she couldn’t advance in her career where she was, she got a position at Sovereign Lodge where she became Deputy Manager and eventually achieving the Manager’s position. Teresa operates an open door policy, so feel free to approach her and air any concerns or queries you may have.
