Elderly Care at Derwent
One of the most important decisions you can make is choosing a care home, either for yourself or a loved one. There are many things to take into consideration when looking at elderly care, including facilities and location. At Derwent Care Home in Low Westwood, we believe the elderly care needs to combine these factors with an environment that is personal, comforting and enriching every day.
Our care home is set in the heart of a friendly village community and is backed by the Mariposa Care Commitment to high quality standards. This means that Derwent is more than a care home and has become a home from home for many residents, as we believe every individual should be treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

What is Elderly Care?
Elderly care is a specific type of support that has been designed to meet the unique requirements of older individuals who require assistance with things like daily living and health needs. It is also a way for the elderly to enjoy life in a sociable and supportive environment.
At Derwent Care Home, our elderly care is based around enabling residents to maintain independence wherever possible, whilst always ensuring that they feel safe, valued and part of a thriving community. We do this alongside our personal care and medication management services to ensure that there are all round high levels of care available when needed.

Our Approach to Elderly Care at Derwent
At Derwent we follow the CQC’s Single Assessment Framework to ensure that we deliver person-centred elderly care that goes above and beyond traditional expectations. We don’t just set our standards based on regulations, but also by what we know our residents need and deserve. We therefore use advanced digital systems to improve efficiency, safety and transparency, such as electronic care planning, which ensures every individual’s care is tailored, regularly reviewed and easily accessible for anyone who needs it. We also make use of Camascope to provide accurate electronic medication administration and Pronett to help us manage our estate digitally so that the living environment can be kept safe and homely at all times.
We have a dedicated team of care professionals who have all been fully trained and are supported and encouraged to grow in their roles. This enhances the care that we are able to provide and strengthens the trusted relationships that we have built with our residents and their families.
