Daily Life at Derwent

At Mariposa Care, we believe that exceptional care is about more than physical support – it’s about providing our residents with opportunities each day that enrich their overall health and wellbeing.

Every resident is unique, which is why daily life here is shaped around individual interests, hobbies and goals. Whether that means joining a group activity, spending time with friends, enjoying a favourite hobby or taking up a new one, we support residents to spend their days in ways that bring them happiness and purpose.

Spaces to Enjoy

There is always something happening here at Derwent with many opportunities for residents to socialise, stay active and enjoy new experiences both within our home and out in the local community.

With many thoughtfully designed areas of the home, residents can enjoy:

  • Cosy yet spacious lounges
  • Apple Tree Café
  • The Orangery Bar & Conservatory
  • Derwent Hair & Beauty Salon
  • Luxurious Dining Rooms
  • Modern and bright bedrooms with ensuite wetrooms

These spaces help create a welcoming environment where residents can enjoy both companionship and independence.

Tailored Activities & Events

Our activities programme is developed with residents at its heart. By listening to their interests, hobbies and aspirations, we create a varied activities and events calendar that offers something for everyone.

Regular activities may include:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Live entertainment
  • Exercise and wellbeing sessions
  • Gardening
  • Baking and cooking
  • Quizzes and games
  • Community visits
  • Seasonal celebrations
  • Religious services
  • Day trips and outings

Alongside these planned activities, we encourage spontaneous moments of enjoyment, whether that’s a coffee with friends, a walk in the garden or spending time with visiting family members.

We welcome loved ones to our homes every day, and will be happy to provide assistance and refreshments for friends/families wherever we can.

Wellbeing & Enrichment

Our commitment to wellbeing extends across everything we do. Alongside the daily activities and events organised by our wellbeing team, residents can also benefit from engaging Oomph! Wellness sessions and outings organised through Myley Tours.

These experiences provide additional opportunities for residents to stay active, maintain community connections and enjoy enriching experiences tailored to their interests.

Our Wellbeing Team

The vibrant atmosphere at Derwent is made possible by our dedicated Wellbeing Coordinators, who are supported by our Community and Engagement Lead.

Working closely with residents, they create a varied programme of activities, events and experiences that reflects individual interests and preferences. Their passion, creativity and commitment help ensure there is always something to look forward to, while encouraging residents to remain active, connected and engaged in the life of the home.
