Briardene Newsletter: October Edition
I have had many happy memories from Mariposa over the years but I can honestly say that Friday, our WEAR IT PINK day in aid of Breast Cancer Now was my favourite and I am so VERY proud to be part of this amazing team at Briardene.
With the support from the Night and Days carers, Nurses and CSA, Activities, Maintenance, Domestic, Kitchen and Office staff, we all came together and worked as a team to support Roxanne in her cause for Breast Cancer. Raising £3180 (so far!).

As a team we voted on how to spend the money kindly donated to us from Careport and an overwhelming majority voted for Andy Wilson who received the £1500 cash gift. Both Andy and his partner were both emotional and wish to thank everyone for their on-going support through this difficult time.
We will face many more ups and downs during this surreal time we are living in, but as a family we will continue to be there for each other, picking us up during our low periods and joining in on our highs.
THANK YOU to each and every one of you at Briardene.

Laura our Lifestyle Support Co-ordinator has been extremely busy this month ensuring our residents have plenty to do as the weather takes a turn for the worst- there’s been a nail bar, Sweets Trolly, Movie Afternoons, Bingo, decorating the home for Halloween and crafts with the residents. Thank you for everything Laura!
We also held our very own Bake Off competition for our staff with some very impressive entries! And the winners are.. 1st Place – Richard, 2nd Place – Deborah and 3rd Place- Allison! Well done to everyone who took part!
And a special mention to our favourite guest, Bruce! It’s lovely to see the residents light up when they see him- after all who could resist those puppy eyes?!

Riddle Me This…
Can you work out this month’s brain-teaser riddles?…
1. I’m tall when I’m young, and I’m short when I’m old. What am I?
2.You see a boat filled with people, yet there isn’t a single person on board. How is that possible?
3.If you’ve got me, you want to share me; if you share me, you haven’t kept me. What am I?
