Part of the Mariposa Care Group, The Old Prebendal House Care Home in Shipton-under-Wychwood has introduced new and interactive reminiscence displays throughout the home; further enhancing its specialist dementia and memory loss care offering for residents.
The Old Prebendal House currently provides residential care , nursing care and specialist dementia care in Oxfordshire and is committed to continuously improving its care offering to suit the everchanging needs of the elderly community.
This latest project has introduced specialist enrichment areas to stimulate memories, encourage conversation and promote meaningful connections for residents living with dementia and other memory loss conditions. The new displays include a traditional writing bureau nook and a gardening-themed potting shed, providing residents with familiar environments and interactive features that can help prompt memories and encourage social interaction.
Located within the main lounge, the new areas offer all residents the opportunity to explore and engage with the spaces at their own pace. They complement the warm, homely environment of The Old Prebendal House, where specially trained dementia care staff are available 24-hours a day to support residents to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Working with care home interior design experts, The Juniper Partnership, Mariposa Care have created familiar, interest-led spaces that reflect the heritage and character of the local area around The Old Prebendal House, while bringing recognisable objects, settings and activities into everyday life at the home.

These new areas complement The Old Prebendal House’s existing specialist care facilities, including the Tithe Barn Restaurance, Hair Salon and Village Store. Designed to meet the needs and interests of modern residents, all of these specially curated destinations create an environment where residents can feel safe and supported; while also encouraging independence, connection and meaningful engagement.
